Ear reshaping, or Otoplasty, is performed to correct ear cartilage abnormalities resulting from accidents or conditions you were born with. The most simple and common repair is for torn earlobes from pierced ears. The lobes are repaired with a delicate technique leaving them slightly smaller and with a short vertical scar. Repair of “lop ear deformity” is done whe the normal folds of the ear are not complete leaving the top half of the ear sticking out. Too much cartilage in the bowl portion of the ear, making the ear face forward instead of sideways, can also be corrected. All of the work is done through an incision behind the ear so there is no obviously visible scar. Permanent sutures are used to obtain a near ideal shape and position. This is also done under local anesthesia. A head band is worn for 24 hrs and nightly for two weeks. The cost is $2000 per ear.
